BEN ALLEN

Bens work is inspired by textures found in everyday life that surround us on the streets and buildings, the rusting metals and corroded weather swept posters of the streets and billboards, the peeling and fading layers that create a new image, unplanned and unpredicted.

These notions bear comparison to Bens working technique, as his works are largely unplanned, he describes his work as a visual ether of thought and suggestion, a silent dialogue of past, present and future.

Working in a multitude of media and materials influences include comic book art, skateboard culture, surfing, travel, Japanese graphics, the Mexican festival “Dia de la Muerte”, typography, nature and the human condition.

His paintings and prints are in private collections worldwide.

“My work is representative of taking layers of time, recreating something that you can’t have control over, but in a controlled manner. I take all the pieces and make my own world.”
