“My paintings are about presence - both real and implied - through absence. With my work, I am asking the viewer to complete a narrative: trying to touch on common human emotion, and experience. I’m very interested in the notion of ambiguity: the narrative being read differently by individuals depending on their own thoughts and experiences. In my work I’m trying to chalk an outline portrait of the social body and its current disorders. I paint on reclaimed plywood, as well as holding elements of past use, this material has the strength and durability to allow the add and removing paint from the surface, mixing traditional and contemporary media such as, oil paint and gesso, along side spray paint.”
